Hi everyone!
Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Yolanda De Iuliis. Yolanda is an author and she’s written the book two books: Underneath my Soul and The Memoirs of ‘I’, the one that we’re celebrating today!
INTERVIEW
Arvenig: “Hi Yolanda! Tell us a little about yourself and your background!”
Yolanda: “Hey Arvenig! I’m Yolanda De Iuliis and I come from Ayrshire, Scotland but grew up with an Italian/Irish background as my father’s family originated from Italy and my mother’s family originated from Northern Ireland. I currently study Classical Studies along with Modern Greek and I am the writer of ‘Underneath my soul’ and The Memoirs of ‘I’.”
A: “Are you an indie author? If not Who edited your book and how did you select him/her?”
Y: “Yes, I am an indie author yet all indie authors employ professionals as publishing involves teamwork therefore to get the best out of my words and thoughts I hired my editor ‘Duncan Lockerbie’ and he owns the publishing house of The Lumphanan Press. I wanted to keep my work close to home.”
A: “When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?”
Y: “I have always wanted to be a writer ever since I was a little girl yet I never thought one day I would become one as it seems like a dream but what is meant for us will not go by us!”
A: “What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?”
Y: “I initially started to write a diary but I quickly realised that I was not speaking in a ‘normal’ diary format. I started writing with reflection rather than on my daily life then I began to be more intrigued with myself, my thoughts, my ideas and so forth.”
A: “Now let’s talk about The Memoirs of ‘I’.. What was your favourite part to write and why?”
Y: “The way that The Memoirs of ‘I’ worked is that I wrote it daily therefore each day was my favourite part. Some days I would reflect better, write smarter or ask more exciting questions but everyday gave me something great.”
A: “Is there a message in your memoir that you want readers to grasp?”
Y: “There are many messages I would like the readers to grasp whilst reading my memoir but it depends on the reader as it will have a different effect on each individual but the main purpose is for each reader to gain some inspiration and to see life and this world that we all share that bit more special and differently.”
A: “What are you working on at the moment?”
Y: “Currently I am only reading books and studying so that I can focus on the development of my mind, ideas and thoughts. If I do this I will then write when the time is right again.”
A: “What did you learn whilst writing The Memoirs of ‘I’?”
Y: “I learned how beautiful yet how horrible oneself can be and how negative and positive clearly surrounds all of us but we don’t realise it very much. I had to reflect on my past, my own pains and my own crazy thoughts and this was a hard challenge but made me a better person for it.”
A: “Who will enjoy reading The Memoirs of ‘I’?
Y: “I would say anyone who wishes to see a thinkers perspective on life and this Earth in which we call home. Anyone who enjoys philosophical thoughts, asks questions or wants to find some inspiration.:
A: “Any last thoughts for our readers?”
Y: “Thanks to all the new readers and I hope you enjoy The Memoirs of ‘I’ and if so, I am always eager to hear others thoughts, opinions on my work and life in general!”
